Meet Miss Ohio Jr. Pre-Teen!

Tori Harrison-Rawn
Miss Ohio Jr. Pre-Teen

It all started with a letter, an open call and free photo shoot.  My parents and I thought, why not?  Off we went and there we began our National American Miss journey.  NAM and pageants were a brand new experience for us.  We liked the idea of “Building Today’s Girl for Tomorrow’s Leaders”.   All of my experiences over the past year have helped to build my confidence, build character and work toward being a better person.
During my reign over the past year, I have been able to work with my church helping to provide for those in need.  With my sister queens, we supported fundraising for childhood diabetes, met other queens around Ohio and met many of you working the open calls and training sessions.
I have to say, I loved dress shopping, the training sessions, performing on stage and practicing interview questions.  Most of all I cherished meeting new people and making so many new friends.  From the very first pajama party, to the last photo shoot I was able to share who I am and enjoy being a part of the NAM family.  Thank you National American Miss and my family for all you have provided me.
Always remember to be kind, be confident, be proud and be YOU!  Enjoy all the activities and meeting new friends.  Good Luck to each and every one of you!  Best Wishes and I look forward to meeting you pageant weekend.

Love, Tori Harrison-Rawn Miss Ohio Jr. PreTeen

Featuring Miss Ohio Jr. Teen!

My journey began on July 1, 2013, after 7 years of hard work and dedication finally my name was called, and I couldn’t have been excited! My journey didn’t stop there though, during my year in reign I got many opportunities to do many different things. Some events I got to attend included the Ohio State fair with my sister queens, the pumpkin festival also with my sister queens, and I was also invited to deliver the game ball at a Cincinnati Reds game! I was able to help with my platform for the American Heart Association by my own organization I created called “Crowning Hearts”. I set up a fundraiser at my grandmother’s cupcakery where all the profits went straight towards “Crowning Hearts”, raised lots of money for this cause, and also participated in the Heart walk! No journey as a National American Miss Queen would be complete without a trip to California where I met tons of new friends, and had a blast with my family! It was the best 9 days ever! Of course though, this journey as Miss Ohio Jr. Teen would not have been complete without all the amazing people behind me! Thank you all! To all of the contestants, you’re all special in many different ways and never forget to always be yourself! Good luck to everyone! I can’t wait to see you all shine! For the last time I am your Miss Ohio Jr. Teen 2013, Mikayla Colwell.

Dear Contestants,
National American Miss is an organization that strives to build confidence in young ladies.  NAM has a mission to encourage us to be leaders now and in the future and to equip us with valuable life skills.  I have been involved with NAM since the age of 4 and it has definitely impacted my life.
This has been a year of amazing memories and accomplishments.  After being crowned your Ohio Jr. Teen, I began my reign by participating in the Ohio State Fair and volunteering with my sister queens at the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation walk.  I also began my preparation for the National Pageant in California.  I was blessed that week to bring home the National title of Most Promising Model and Photogenic.  I was even more honored and excited when I was chosen to represent the nation as the new National American Miss Jr. Teen!!  I have traveled across the US, spent a week in Nicaragua on a mission trip, had a blast at the national photo shoot, and meet so many new and wonderful people along the way.
This weekend is about creating memories that will last a lifetime.  You should be very proud of yourself.  God has a special plan for each of us.  I am so excited to see what His plans hold for my future. Have fun and best of luck to each and every one of you!
God Bless,
Regan Spoltman

Dear 2014 Contestants and Families:
It is crazy how your life can change in the blink of an eye. It was a dream come true when my name was announced as the 2013 National American Miss Ohio Jr. Pre-teen Queen. I stood there in shock for a minute until I realized that they really did call my name! It was an amazing moment that I will never forget.
As soon as I got back home I rode in the Fourth of July parades, made local appearances as a state queen, and helped with judging and crowning at a pageant at my county fair. I also attended the Ohio State Fair with my Sister Queens. We had a blast riding in the parade, eating junk food, and spending the day together. During my reign I was able to meet “Brutus” the Buckeye and spend the day with the Ohio State Cheerleaders. This was an awesome experience, because I hope to one day cheer at the Ohio State University.
I jumped right into volunteering for local organizations that hold a special place in my heart.  My best friend’s mom was diagnosed with breast cancer so I knew I wanted to donate my time and service to the Pam Shoemaker Foundation. This foundation helps those with cancer in my community by donating meals, gift cards and support.  I also came up with my own event, “Cheer for a Cure” with the help of two former Ohio State Cheerleaders. I held a cheer clinic and raised over $1000 for the Foundation. This event was such a success that I will continue it every year. It was a fun and special event and everyone had a blast! I also love animals so in my spare time I love volunteering at my local animal shelter.
Before I knew it my mom and I were off to Nationals in California. We had the best time spending the week with my Sister Queen Tori and her family. We had so much fun at Disneyland, playing on the beach and in Hollywood. I was so excited when I found Michael Jackson’s pink star! The week of Nationals was filled with new friendships and memories that will last a lifetime. It was an experience I will never forget.
There are so many people I would like to thank for supporting me and being part of this journey: My dad and my brother for all of their support, my mom who is my number one fan and takes care of everything for me, to the Pageant-Perfect Coaching Staff, especially Leigh and Kelsey, for helping me prepare to do my best , to my NAM Directors, Steve and Kathleen Mayes, for giving me an opportunity of a lifetime, and God for blessing me in so many ways. My Sister Queens, I love you all so much and I will treasure all the memories that we made together. I’m so thankful to have you all as sisters and friends for life.
To my successor, you are in for an amazing journey so hang on tight! I hope this year is as exciting for you as it has been for me. Remember to always believe in yourself and your dreams will come true.  Last, but not least, you’re never fully dresses without a smile, so smile and have fun!
Your 2013 Miss Ohio Jr Pre-teen.
