What an incredible year it has been for me! When I was announced the new Miss New Jersey Junior Pre-TeenSM I was shocked because it was my very first pageant! All of my hard work and dedication really paid off, I was not hearing things when they called my name!
During my year of reign I was able to give back to community in so many ways. I got to make an appearance in the homecoming parade in my hometown which is an old tradition. I raised over $500 for the less fortunate. This past April, I had the opportunity to be a part of the award ceremony at the Spacial Olympics, I also with many of sporting events!
Being crowned Miss New Jersey Jr Pre-TeenSMhas afforded me the opportunity to do all of these things. For this I am truly grateful! My memories are treasures that I will keep for a lifetime. The most important lesson that I learned from this experience is to never give up on your dreams, whatever they are. Reach for the moon, even you miss it you land among the stars.
Best of luck to all of you competing this week. Enjoy every moment and keep smiling, but most of all, have FUN!!!

Life is not measured by the breaths we take but by the moments that take our breath away. The moment I was crowned queen was one of those moments for me. It was a time of shock, happiness, and gratification. It is now time to crown a new queen and for her to have one of these special moments. It is with much joy and amazement that I am able to share my experience with you all tonight. Throughout my time as Miss New Jersey Junior Pre TeenSM, I learned to accept myself and others’ uniqueness while living each day to the fullest. While winning the title was amazing, the people I have met along the way have been very influential as well. I had many fantastic opportunities such as volunteering in the Down Syndrome Buddy walk, assisting at the Special Olympics, and decorating the Senior home in my hometown. Overall winning the title has taught me that what is on the inside is what matters. I am excited to crown a new queen and to be part of this adventure with National American Miss.

On this exact stage one year ago I was crowned your 2012 Miss New Jersey Teen Cover GirlSM. With a crown on my head I set out to make a difference, my reign was off to a quick start with volunteering for walks at patriots stadium, promoting children's literacy at my former elementary school, handing out medals to the amazing athletes of the special olympics, walking at the race for freedom and collecting jackets for the big brother big sister foundation. I even received a citation award from my town for my accomplishments. I was lucky enough to compete at the National pageant in California! I made so many life long friends and even placed 3rd in the nation. As my year comes to an end I will always cherish this opportunity I have been blessed with. I would like to thank National American Miss and their truly amazing staff for providing this pageant system where girls can grow in confidence and show their true inner beauty. To my successor brace yourself for the year of your life. Go out there and make a difference and remember to always represent your state with pride. Cherish every moment because you may not know it now but you will miss it when its over. I know I will. Congratulations contestants, relax and have a blast!!! Good luck to everyone.

Dear Pageant Sisters,
My reign as Miss New Jersey TeenSMwas amazing. I am honored to have been crowned queen. I enjoyed making wonderful friendships and having rewarding experiences this year.
I participated in photo shoots, collected Toys for Tots, walked for Autism, volunteered at my favorite organizations and promoted literacy in elementary schools. Additionally, I had several speaking engagements at schools stressing the harmful effects of drug and alcohol use.
Being your NAM NJ Teen was a thrilling adventure. I’d like to thank my parents for supporting me this entire year. Thank you, Mr. and Mrs. Mayes for creating an organization that gives young girls an opportunity to pursue their dreams.
To all the contestants, have fun this weekend and remember to strive to be your best always. To my successor, I wish you the best of luck. You will embark on a fantastic journey! I believe with hard work and determination we can achieve our goals! I am, and will forever be your National American Miss New Jersey Teen 2012SM

My journey with National American Miss started nine years ago when I was a shy, scared junior pre-teen. Over the course of almost a decade, I have learned and grown in ways that I could have never imagined. This time with NAM has truly been a journey and I have grown up with the best NAMily that anybody could ask for. As I spend my last time on the NAM stage, I know that my journey has just begun and NAM has set the foundation for so much yet to come.
Looking back on this past year, I can truly say that it has been one that is life-changing. From being crowning Miss New York Teen 2012SM starting my first year of college (my first of eight as a BA/MD student), helping rebuild my hometown after Hurricane Sandy, competing at the National pageant in California, traveling to a remote village in India for a study abroad program, getting to advocate for my platform: SPARK: Students Partnering and Reaching Kids (facebook.com/sparkselfesteem), and serving on a medical brigade to impoverished communities in Nicaragua, I have had a whirlwind of a year!
My travels, appearances, studies, performances, and experiences this year have been so poignant and powerful. I have been able to complete service projects such as SPARK workshops in elementary schools, donating over 7,000 books to various charities, rebuilding my hometown, Staten Island, after Hurricane Sandy, and volunteer at various charitable walks and events. I was honored to appear at parades, the Debi Rose Women in History Ceremony, the Miss New York Pageant, EBC Radio, and other community events.
This journey is truly process of growing and evolution. Win or lose, the most important thing is what you learn and how you grow. It doesn’t take a crown to change the world, it takes willpower, determination, and dedication. I hope that the NAM experience is one that you can take with the mindset of a true winner: a young lady that comes to challenge herself, grow, and befriend some of the most talented and impressive young women.
I am so thankful for National American Miss for giving me the chance to represent and organization whose mission and ideals I believe in and be a role model for young girls. To all the NAM staff, my family and friends who made this year so amazing, I am forever grateful for everything!
With sparkles and service,
