The 2010 National American MissTennessee Jr Pre-Teen, Jessica Sales !!

Miss Jessica Sales, daughter of Billy and Michelle Sales, has recently been crowned National American Miss 2010 Tennessee Jr. Preteen Queen. As the state queen, she will now represent her home state as well as the other 68 girls, from ages 7-9, with whom she participated. Including the prizes she won in the optional contests of her choice, Jessica brought home more than $3,000 in cash and prizes.

The prizes included her airfare to the national pageant in California, tickets for two to Disneyland, tickets for two to a Hollywood tour, and her fees paid to compete for the national title in Anaheim, CA where she will represent her home state of Tennessee and will have the opportunity to win her share of the more than $500,000 in cash and prizes awarded each year at the National American Miss national pageant.

Jessica's other activities also include competitive clogging. She is a proud member of the Tennessee Hoedowners located in Surgoinsville, TN. She also is learning modeling and acting and has begun to build a resume of commercials and print work.

Jessica’s title is with the leader of “natural” pageant movement, National American Miss (NAM). The pageant system is committed to celebrating America's greatness and encouraging its future leaders. With the help of outstanding national sponsors, NAM each year awards one and a half million dollars in cash, prizes and scholarships to recognize and assist the development of young women nationwide.

National American Miss is dedicated to developing the success of young women across the nation with a program that teaches life skills needed for job interviews, public speaking, as well as developing natural poise and confidence. The program is age-appropriate and family oriented. As a true natural system, NAM has a no-makeup rule for girls ages 12 and under. By contrast with traditional pageant systems, admission criteria at NAM are based on grades and activities only, without regard to an applicant’s appearance or other external factors. The pageants are held at the state level for girls ages 4 to 18 in five different age divisions. Event information for each state can be found at

National American Miss has added the ultimate door prize to its national finals, held each year in California. Each girl that qualifies for and attends the national pageant will participate in a free drawing to win a new Ford Mustang Convertible. A video of the drawing winner from 2009 can be found here: . Details on the free drawing for a car can be found at

The National American Miss Pageants are for "Today's Girl" and "Tomorrow's Leaders". The pageant program is based on inner beauty, as well as poise, presentation and offers an "All American Spirit" of fun for family and friends. Scoring is based on poise and natural confidence shown in 30% Personal Introduction (a basic public speaking segment), 30% Personal Interview (an interview with each judge in a job interview format) and 30% Escorted Formal Wear (the part of the pageant where each girl gets to show her own personal style), and 10% Community Service. Emphasis is placed on the importance of gaining a natural self-confidence, learning life skills, learning good attitudes about competition, and setting and achieving personal goals. The pageant seeks to recognize the accomplishments of each girl while encouraging her to set goals for the future! It is NAM’s mission to encourage America's future leaders and equip them with valuable life skills.

This young lady has been chosen to represent her state because of her outstanding accomplishments and her community service. Jessica will be joining other young leaders from across the country who are making a positive difference in their communities and in the lives of others. We wish her well at nationals. Good luck Jessica!
