Featuring Miss California Teen!

Wow! This year has been a whirlwind. I can’t believe that my reign as National American Miss California Teen 2013 is coming to an end. My year has been full of countless experiences, opportunities, and events that I will never forget.  Words will never do justice to how blessed I feel to have held this title. To the girls competing this weekend- congratulations on making one of the greatest decisions of your life! Coming to NAM in 2012 I had no idea how much this organization could do for me in just a few days. You will never forget how amazing this weekend has been and I wish you all the best!
Make time this weekend to thank your family for being here. I know that I would never have won the crown if it wasn’t for my mom, dad, brothers, and grandparents supporting me all weekend. We are a product of the people who love us, so be sure to take some time and recognize how many people love and support you for being you!
To my successor, get ready for the ride of your life! Make every jewel in your crown represent a life you have touched, an organization you have worked with, or a memory you have made. It is up to you to take this title and run with it!
Thank you to everyone who went on this journey with me! I love you all so much!

Featuring Miss California Jr. PreTeen!

AMAZING!! That is how my year as Jr. Pre-Teen Queen has been. Representing California as a NAM Queen was a dream come true and I will cherish every memory I made. I can't tell you what my favorite memory is, from all of my volunteer work, collecting hundreds of new socks for my campaign Toasty Tootsies, Disneyland and Hollywood at Nationals, photo shoots with my sister queens, parades, festivals, helping out at open calls and workshops, traveling to Washington state, and Oregon as visiting royalty, I could go on and on about all of my NAM adventures, so how can I pick only one favorite memory?? IMPOSSIBLE!!!!!!
NAM has taught me so much over the years. Being confident in everything you do is my biggest lesson learned. Who would have known that having so much fun making friends and memories would teach you so many important things in life? Because of NAM, I know my future will be bright. It has given me the confidence and courage to face my fears, and most important, the ability to stay true to who I am. Forever a NAM girl is what I'll be!!
Mommy and Daddy, and my entire family, Thank you for always being my biggest cheerleaders and for taking time out of your life to be a HUGE part of mine, I love you all so, so, much.
Megan and Brian, thank you for all of your positive encouragement, California has the best Directors EVER!!
To all the contestants competing this year, And to my Successor, Don't worry about winning, just be yourself, be happy, and make tons of new friends, remember, being Queen will only last a year, but the friendships and memories you make will last a lifetime.

Featuring Miss Texas Jr. PreTeen Lauren Altom!

I cannot believe it has almost been one year since I was crowned NAM Miss Texas Jr. Pre – Teen.  Crowning was such an exciting time for me and a memory I will cherish forever.  This has been an amazing fun-filled year full of many blessings and opportunities that I am lucky to have experienced.
Throughout the year, I was fortunate enough to volunteer with our local church and fill over 600 backpacks for our “Back to School” drive and stuff shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child with toys and supplies for children in Africa.  It was a great feeling knowing I had helped so many children.
I was also able to participate in our Weatherford Homecoming Parade and it was so much fun to represent NAM in my community.  Helping the NAM staff at open calls in the DFW area also was a great experience for me.  I loved helping all the new little girls learn more about NAM.
Attending Nationals in California with my family was the highlight of my year.  I had such an amazing time and got to meet many great sister queens from other states.  It was a week full of memories including Disney Land, a tour through Hollywood, and building sandcastles on the beach.
Good Luck to all the contestants in this year’s pageant.  I hope pageant weekend is a wonderful experience for you.  To my successor, cherish every moment along your new and exciting  journey!
Best wishes!!
Lauren Altom
