Let the Countdown Begin...
The 2012 National American Miss National Pageant is just around the corner! This year is extra special because we are celebrating 10 YEARS!!! You don't want to miss out on all the FUN! We know this is going to be the experience of the lifetime! I wanted to get the inside scoop from our past contestants, to help all of you prepare the best you can. So here is what they had to say!
1.Work hard on all your events.....practice alot on confidence and showing who YOU are and what you stand for. Most important get involved with your community and use your title to make a difference!
2.Focus on being YOUR personal best and appreciate the gifts God has given you as an individual. Practice a little each day-it's all in the details! Good preparation will lead to confidence on stage!
3. Be prepared! Why hurry to complete something during pageant week when you could complete it beforehand?! Best of luck to everyone!
4.Make it a point to become friends with all the girls in your division. But mostly nationals was a week to support your sister queens, they will be your friends for Life. Don't miss an opportunity to support your sister queens and to make friends with everyone. Don't get nervous, get energetic!
We even got a few words of Wisdom from some of our National Titleholders!
The 2011-2012 National All-American Miss Amanda Moreno:
"I'd like to start by saying how excited I am to meet you all! Nationals is going to be a fabulous week; celebrating 10 years of NAM transforming ladies. As National representatives, we are preparing so many exciting surprises for you girls and getting together our final thoughts as we write contestant letters and create our farewell DVD. The best advice I can give you all in preparation for Nationals is to simply focus on what you have control over. First and foremost, that is your skill set. Practice holding conversations with adults and your public speaking skills. Make sure you feel like a princess when you walk in your formal wear heels. Free yourself from the secondary things, your make-up/hair/the dress/the suit/etc., it is important that they are in place and well prepared... but at NAM we celebrate YOU. The judges are looking for a young lady who is the best version of herself. You already have everything it takes to win within you! I pray that you all have a beautiful month preparing for the week of a lifetime, see you in California!"
The 2011-2012 National American Miss Teen Jena Diller :
"I agree with Amanda, I am SO excited to meet all of you amazing ladies competing at Nationals! Never forget what an amazing blessing you have already been given by having the opportunity to represent your states and cities with pride and integrity! The week of Nationals will be full of fun, friendship, and yes a little stress. That is why it is SO important to come rested and stay rested while you're there! Remember to thank the family and friends that are there to show their love and support for you. Make it a fun family vacation and never turn down the chance to make a new friend. NAM's 10th Anniversary Celebration will be one to remember and we couldn't be more excited to share it with all of you. We promise to do our absolute best to make it an amazing week for each of you! It is so important to be prepared, yet not over-rehearsed so you can remain the sincere and genuine girl that you are. We are all so proud of you girls already so ENJOY your time in California making friendships and memories that will last a lifetime!"
We even got some advice from Associate State Director Breanne Maples!
"be sure to think..."I LOOK GOOD!"
And finally my advice to all of you is to HAVE FUN and MAKE MEMORIES! When I think back about when I competed at the national pageant, I can tell you it was a BLAST. Your time in LA can go so fast, so make sure you slow down and smell the roses. You want to take too many pictures! It is important that you rest up. Don't worry about what you can not control. Relax and enjoy your experience! Practice before you arrive at nationals that way you can enjoy all the events that are taking place that week.
"In order to succeed, your desire for success should be greater than your fear of failure."Bill Cosby
