Meet The 2012-2013 Natinal American Miss Junior Teen Haydon Metcalf
Tiffany:How did you get involved in National American
Miss?
Haydon: I began receiving mailings in about 4th grade. Within about 2 years I
participated in my first NAM pageant!
Tiffany: How did you prepare for the National Pageant?
Haydon: Practice, Practice, Practice!!! I recited my personal intro at every
event I could! (football games, restaurants, etc) We did lots of mock
interviews and I wore my heels around a lot!
Tiffany: What is the best advice you have ever received?
Haydon: Just worry about you.
Tiffany:What quote, motto, or scripture best describes
you?
Haydon: "Dynamite comes in small packages"
Tiffany:What are your plans for the future?
Haydon:To attend college and pursue a degree in fashion design. Later in life
I may want to be a US Senator!
Tiffany: What activities are you involved in?
Haydon: Cheer, Basketball, Soccer, Key Club, Drama Club, Art Club, Student
Counsil. Soccer is my FAVORITE sport!!
Tiffany: What do you like to do for fun?
Haydon: Hang out with friends and family. We live in a small community so
going to the movies is a highlight haha! I enjoy texting and Instagram to keep
up with my out of state friends and relatives.
Tiffany: What is one item you can’t live without?
Haydon: Music! I LOVE my music-I listen to it while I'm getting ready for my
day, on road trips, and to get pumped up before a game!
Tiffany: Who is your rolemodel?
Haydon: My older sister, Hunter. She has been through the wringer medically as
she has both Tourette's Syndrome and Cervical Dystonia. Hunter always has a
smile on her face--ALWAYS and that is inspiring to me!
Tiffany : What
is your favorite TV show?
Haydon: Project Runway is one of my favorite tv shows, I love to see what the
designers can come up with in mere hours! Amazing!
Tiffany: What
is the biggest misconception about your generation?
Haydon:That we are all lazy. True, technology has made some kids lose their
drive to get outside and be active or to play sports but I believe we will come
around and there will be MANY successful people from my generation.
Tiffany: What
is the funniest thing that has ever happened to you?
Haydon: During a pep rally my Freshman year I volunteered to be in the "eating
contest". We THOUGHT we were eating caramel apples but they had replaced them
with caramel ONIONS for the Freshman! NASTY!!!!
Tiffany:
If you had three wishes what would you wish for?
Haydon: 3 wishes: I wish for our nation to become more unified and work
together instead of against each other. I wish for junk food to be CALORIE
FREE!!! I wish to grow 9 inches over night...just kidding! I like being
ME!
Tiffany: If
you could go anywhere in the world where would you go?
Haydon: I would love to visit Italy one day-beautiful place, fashion capital
of Milan, beautiful people, Miditerranean Ocean...YAY!
Tiffany:
What is your definition of a NAM girl?
Haydon: A girl who feels confident in pursuing her dreams. It can be any girl
if she puts her mind to it!
Tiffany: If
you could be on the cover of any Magazine what would it be?
Haydon:Pageantry...wink wink...future Miss America here!!!
Tiffany
: If you were stranded on a deserted island what
three things could you not live without?
Haydon: Endless supply of Cajun food, (a girls gotta eat), my sister, and
sunblock! (gotta protect yourself)
Tiffany:
What is your most prized possession?
Haydon: Well, right now it is my crown and banner (haha) but in another time
it would be my cat, Gretchen!
Tiffany: How would your friends describe you?
Haydon: Loud, outgoing, confident, spirited, trustworthy, and kind.
Tiffany:
How are you making a difference in your
community?
Haydon: I'm trying to put together an anti-bullying campaign for my high
school that I'm hoping will spread to the other schools in my community.
Tiffany: What
is your favorite childhood memory?
Haydon: Scoring my first goal in a U-10 soccer game-I was hooked for
life!
Tiffany:If you could go
back in time and be at any historical event what would it be?
Haydon:The signing of the Declaration of Independence. I LOVE history!
Tiffany:If you could go back in
time and meet one person, who would it be and why?
Haydon: Rosa Parks, I would love to thank her for her bravery.
Tiffany: If you could be famous for
something, what would you want to be famous for?
Haydon:Creating my own petite fashion line, named Perfectly Petite of
course!
Tiffany: What is your favorite book?
Haydon: The Hunger Games. I love it because it is a thrilling action filled
story that I couldn't put down.
Tiffany: Where is your favorite place to shop?
Haydon: The Buckle is my favorite local shop.
Tiffany: What have you learned about
yourself since competing in pageants?
Haydon: I have come a LONG way...I used to shake in my shoes the first few
years during personal intro and interview. I still get nervous but it is a much
more confident feeling now. I enjoy speaking in front of my classmates or at an
event.
Tiffany:What is your definition of success?
Haydon: My definition of success is: Being the best YOU, you can be. Everyone
is different so there are many levels.
Tiffany: What advice do you have for
future NAM girls?
Haydon: Be Bold, Be Brave, Be YOU!!! Put a smile on your face and keep it
there. ANYONE can be successful if they just put their heart and mind to
it!
Tiffany:
What things do you hope to accomplish during your year of
service?
Haydon: Hopefully to inspire other girls (and boys) that they can do and be
whatever they want to be.
Tiffany: What
would you like to be doing 10 years from now?
Haydon: Hopefully running my own fashion design company with a beautiful
family by my side!
Tiffany:
If someone
could live your life for a week, what would they find most interesting?
Haydon: How many things short people can't reach! haha just kidding...I have
a crazy busy schedule and they may find that I am one BUSY girl!
Tiffany:What
is the best compliment you have ever received?
Haydon: Honestly, winning Miss Personality for 9 of the 10 (I got 1st runner
up the other time) NAM pageants I have competed in is a HUGE compliment coming
straight from my peers and I have been honored EVERY single time! Thanks
girls!!
My 4 year old daughter fell absolutely in love with this gorgeous young woman before the open call on Saturday in Denver! She's really coveting Haydon's bling-y crown!!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Haydon!You should go far! You have talent, beauty and a heart inside a star! If caring for others is one of your main goals, That in itself forever will show! Other young people will want to be just like you, so please keep Christ in all that you do! Enjoy being young but keep it real, People will never ever forget how you make them feel!
